FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: And they rested on the 7th day (Cleveland, April 18, 2000)

Per the request from Casting Director Robin Gurland (Star Wars Episode I & II), Mr. Richard Fike, Sr. and Stunt Predators USA of Madison, Ohio commissioned Media Design Imaging, Inc. to produce a promotional video to be reviewed for consideration in the casting of Star Wars II.

Mr. Richard Fike, Sr. (Stunt Coordinator for "A Better Way to Die" a recent film shot in Newark, Ohio) received a call on Thursday, April 13 from his agent Evelyn Foster from Talent Trek, Nashville, TN. Lucasfilm put the call out to the agents for an Anakin character. "My agent wanted me to send them some headshots and our promotional videotape to be considered for Star Wars II ", Fike said. Mr. Fike, a Star Wars aficionado, was happy to have the opportunity. "We wanted a production team that can work quickly within a short period of time," said Mr. Fike, "I wanted our package to be sent to Ms. Robin Gurland by Friday, April 22. Star Wars Cast I've worked with MDI in the past on many projects, I was sure that they could quickly do the job for us." (Mr. Fike was the Stunt Coordinator and the 2nd Unit Director for MDI's first 16mm feature film Twisted, now in post-production). "Rick called me on Thursday evening, and I was skeptical," said Johnny Wu, VP of Media Design Imaging, Inc. "As I listened to him, I realized this might be a challenge for us to put something quickly together without a minimum of planning." After a few phone calls and re-scheduling, MDI agreed to take on the project. On Sunday, MDI assembled a team of 5, and using a Sony VX-1000, they shot Fike's script in 5 hours.

The footage was later captured into networked computers for editing. "We encountered the common problem of location sound: wind, passing trains, and such, so we asked Mr. Fike and Dan Rawlings to come to our studio the next day for dubbing." Said Greg Petusky, President of MDI. Petusky used 2 computers to work the dubbing session: while one looped the vocal segment, the other recorded the actors' attempts to recreate their original dialogue in real time. "We learned that the best way to work with actors while dubbing is simply let them listen to their voices and speak with their original performace without the distraction of video. This enables them to concentrate on bringing out the emotion captured in the footage." Petusky said.

On Tuesday, under Mr. Fike's supervision, Mr. Petusky composed the music for the video. "Once I understood Mr. Fike's instrumental preferences, I just simply sat in front of my keyboard and created the score while watching the action." Petusky said. "This project has helped us to be better prepared as we begin editing our film," Wu said, "We are anxious to have Twisted readied for release, because there are over 5 film festivals eagerly waiting to review it, and we are sure that they won't be disappointed."
