The same Ohio Independent Film Festival, in conjunction with Media Design Imgaging, is hosting a free film-lighting workshop at MDI's studios at E 21st Street and Euclid Avenue, right across from Cleveland State University. The one-day weekend class actually takes place in mid-February, but the limited spaces are filling quickly, so phone 216-623-0822 or e-mail lighting@mdifilm.com if you're intrested in watching MDI cinematographer Greg Petusky replicate and explain lighting arrangements specifically used to shoot scenes for Titanic, Interview With the Vapmire and The Matrix.

Meanwhile, Petusky has been putting his expertise to work behind the cameras for "Twisted," a 16mm drama combining martial arts, coming-of-age and political-thriller elements, now in its final stretch of shooting around town. Michael Larkey, an affiliate of the Twisted crew, is having a premiere of his own this Friday for "Where the Fun Begins." It's described as a skateboarding short-subject shot by Larkey opn an advanced Sony digital-video camera. The free showing takes place at 10:30 pm in Parma (eat your heart out, Sundance Film Festival) at Roller World, located at 5310 Hauserman Road. Phone 440-843-7490.
