Cleveland, Ohio- MDI's Johnny Wu will be participating as a panel member at the Society of Professional Journalists National Convention from October 26-28 in Columbus, Ohio. In his presentation, he and cinematographer Greg Petusky will discuss enhancing communication through scene development, characterization, pacing, rhythm and general storytelling, in addition to sharing their experiences in creating independent film.

The Society of Professional Journalists National Convention returns to Columbus, Ohio for the first time in 25 years. This year's program places special emphasis on issues involving access to information journalists must have to do their jobs. Whether you cover city hall, the environment, technology or education, chances are that public information can help you do your job better (as long as you can access it).

Keynote Presenters for the convention include Gary Webb, former reporter for the San Jose Mercury News and author of the nationally acclaimed series, "Dark Alliance," which documented a link between the CIA and Nicaraguan drug traffickers selling crack cocaine in southern California in the 1980s. Mike Peters, Pulitzer-prize winning editorial cartoonist for the Dayton Daily News and creator of Mother Goose and Grimm, will be honored at the Society's Legal Defense Fund Roast. The LDF Roast is an opportunity for the Society to salute journalists who have distinguished themselves among their peers. M.C. Hammer, once the world's No. 1 selling musician, discusses how the media covers the private lives of public figures. On the eve of a presidential election, four of Ohio's five living governors offer a unique perspective on politics, media coverage and more.

MDI's Johnny Wu (with Director of Photography Greg Petusky) and other session presenters will share their storytelling perspectives in a unique panel offering their independent filmmaking expertise in visual communication. In addition, MDI will also promote cultural awareness by providing in-depth conversation on their film Twisted, now in post-production (based on a true story of a young Asian martial artist).

The Society of Professional Journalists is the country's foremost professional association, with members from many fields of expertise worldwide. You can visit their website at http://www.spj.org for more information on their convention and the program schedule.
