We recently released this music video (released on Oct 14, 2012, as of March 2013, it has garnered over 30,000 views on youtube and vimeo combined and featured on Vevo.com) about a gay teen being bullied and eventually rises above. It was our first experience in shooting with DSLR camera with a basic proper lens.
We had done many basic usage of the camera but never as we did for this shoot.
This music video recently won the 2013 Platinum Pixie Award for it’s motion graphics and animations.
The result was a fun and enjoyable visual presentation of a Sweden retro pop artist’s Bimbo Boy music video Die from a Broken Heart. Currently over 10500 views on YouTube and Vimeocombined.
Using the T2i and the standard kit and a 50mm F1/8, a Tascam DR-05 with a shotgun Beyerdynamic mec86 mic, flood of lights on scenes, and a cheap Kodak Zx3 waterproof camera for underwater shots, did this all with 1280×720 60fps as we used a bit of slow-mo on a few areas. Dolly shot was using the Tripod Dolly ($40) at the high school’s scene. at the time of the shoot, I didn’t get a focus ring, so all the focusing was done manually while ‘framing’ and ‘moving’ the camera (a pain) lol Just got the DSLR-Solutions’ $60 focus kit so will be doing more with it.
Some effects done in AE and a small color correction done using Magic Bullet Colorista II, 3D animation done by the Fiorella Brothers.
