Award winning director Johnny Wu<\/strong> will serve as a judge\u00a0for the finals at the Cleveland Comedy Festival:\u00a0Stand-Up Contest, on Friday, November 18, at 9:30pm at the PlayhouseSquare 14th Street Theatre.<\/p>\n

Over 60 comedians and groups from all over the Midwest – including national headliners – will perfor\"\"m stand-up, sketch, and improv comedy sets; compete in stand-up comedy contests;\u00a0 teach workshops; hold creative conversations; and lead a Class Clown Showcase for hilarious kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a creative person \/ producer \/ director, I think you\u2019d be perfect in evaluating our comedians fairly and impartially,\u201d said organizer Joe Hannum.\u00a0Hannum approached Wu\u00a0for consultation on\u00a0pushing their comedy festival to the next level.<\/p>\n

The Cleveland Comedy Festival began in 2008 as a celebration of local, independent comedy and has grown into much more in only\u00a0four years.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Now, in 2011, The Cleveland Comedy Festival has evolved to include more shows, more diverse forms of comedy, national headliners, and\u00a0some of the best local and regional comedians. Crowd participation and involvement has extended through\u00a0workshops, panel discussions, and partnerships with Northeast Ohio comedy clubs.<\/p>\n

The Cleveland Comedy Festival\u2019s mission remains the same \u2014 to celebrate Cleveland\u2019s comedic past, present, and future and help promote one of Cleveland\u2019s greatest exports \u2014 our collective sense of humor and comedic talent.<\/p>\n

The Cleveland Comedy Festival is an event that is uniquely Cleveland and continues the legacy of\u00a0comedy that includes Bob Hope,\u00a0 Ernie Anderson, Tim Conway, Arsenio Hall, Steve Harvey, Drew Carey and many,\u00a0many others. Cleveland has always been a funny place that seems to foster more\u00a0than its fair share of hilarious people. The festival starts from November 15-23.
