MDI to produce 71th Annual One World Day – August 28

Homeicon@3x-150x150This August 28, 2016 is the 71th Annual One World Day for Cleveland Cultural Gardens, this is also the celebration of the gardens’ 100 years birthday!

As the MDI helped produce last year’s One World Day, the kick off event for the Centennial Celebration, which drew over 10,000 people to the gardens, it is an honor to be back again this year in taking a bigger responsibility.

The Cleveland Cultural Gardens is the only unique gardens in the world so it is a Cleveland landmark that is also a National treasure.

Since 1945, the Cleveland Cultural Gardens have celebrated One World Day in the Gardens. This annual event reflects the theme of the Gardens: “Peace through Mutual Understanding.”

The annual One World Day, the official event hosted by the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation for the Gardens, it is the highlight of the busy calendar of summer events in the Gardens and the one occasion that all the Gardens get together to celebrate as one. Events include a Parade of Flags, a naturalization ceremony, cultural performances, entertainment, gardens exhibitors, authentic diverse ethnic food and more.

Continuing building from the success of 2015’s 70th annual One World Day with over 10,000 people in attendance. The 71st Annual One World Day – the Centennial Celebration will be produced by  Johnny Wu (owner of Media Design Imaging and Co-Founder of the Cleveland Asian Festival). It is Co-chaired by Dr. Richard Crepage and Svetlana Stolyarova from the Federation.

To celebrate this milestone, we, the Federation that governs the gardens, are kicking off our Centennial Campaign to raise an initial $750,000. Our long term goals are to create an ongoing Endowment Fund to help maintain and grow the gardens for the next hundred years. The funds will be used for restoration, improvements, and to focus on the mission of the gardens, Peace Through Mutual Understanding. The focal part of this legacy project will be the construction of a Centennial Plaza to be located in the midway point of the gardens. It will feature a large open plaza for performances and gatherings, a fountain derived from our logo which depicts a sphere being held up by hands which also closely resembles flowers.  The plans also call for recognition of donors where the names of those who supported us in our mission will be honored.
